This album is not only one of the all time greatest Australian metalcore albums but is one of the greatest metalcore albums period.
Not saying the albums that came after this one aren't good but there truly is something special about this album and I personally feel like the follow up album chasing ghosts felt like part 2 of this album without that special feeling Youngbloods carried.
Songs like I Hate Hartley, Anchors, Fire And Knife, Dr. Thunder and Fuck The Yankees hit you with heavy, chuggy breakdowns and anthem feeling melodic choruses where Bassist/Vocalist Ahrens voice shines and separates this band from the other metalcore acts out there.
The clean vocals mesh so well with the ferocious screams from frontman Joel and the album truly slaps from start to finish.
I would love if they did an anniversary tour for this album but now that Ahren has departed the band, I have a feeling that what made Amity different and stick out more from every other metalcore band is now lost as I just don't see Ahrens voice being replaceable without losing that Amity sound and vibe.
This album is truly special and is a must listen for any post hardcore, metalcore and surrounding genre fans out there.
