I have loved Pride and Prejudice most of my 45 years, and have watched, read, and loved many incarnations of it. This includes spoofs such as Lost in Austen, P&P& Zombies, Bride and Prejudice, and Austenland.
I saw an ad for this, on FB, and was intrigued. The concept that Elizabeth Bennett could be a trans man, made so much sense to me. This is beautifully written from the POV of Oliver (Elizabeth), and the hardships he goes through with body dysmorphia, masking, imposter syndrome, and so many other feelings that I, as a Cis gender woman whose never questioned her gender or identity, could ever have even FATHOMED without the descriptions laid bare. I have so much appreciation to the author, Gabe Cole Novoa for addressing a sensitive, but necessary subject. It should have been obvious to me, how this might feel, and it wasn't. I'm blessed with a new perspective to appreciate the battles my trans framily fights daily.
I now have an inkling of what it truly feels like to be misgendered, and why it is so important to correct that behavior. Cis gender people who get offended truly cannot comprehend how this feels. I hope they read it too.
