They made a story about a Palestinian child born under a violent occupying empire into pro-empire propaganda. Their "commitment to realism" is a joke and actually a commitment to reinforcing a fairy-tale version of the birth of Christ that erases Christianity's occupied, Palestinian origins. Fake Mary is played by an Israeli actress and imitates whitewashed modern western imaginings of what Mary looked like. The REAL Mary declares "God has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty."
