A little late to the read of this highly acclaimed novel…that being said, this was a book my daughter passed on to me to read on my recent vacation (paperback held together with a binder clip as some of the pages have become unglued due to circulating among friends of summer reading on the beach). You become instantly attached to both characters as you can somewhat relate to or empathize with their individual point of views of their experiences as a couple. I’m interested in watching the movie to ultimately have a solid opinion as I have mixed emotions on reading this story to the very end. But I suppose that’s exactly what the author wanted to evoke from her readers. Maybe I became too invested in all of the characters and am left wondering too much what will become of everyone? Do we see a pattern repeating in future generations? Happily ever after or spiraling down further into the abyss of sociopaths? Perhaps we need to have a conversation for Part 2 - lol.
