I found the heart of this movie was the brave decision to(1) gather to debate what to do to protect each other and the children but moreover imagine a different world than the one they were in;(2) the dignity the women had for one another even when they were at odds about what to do. That we did not see the actual brutality did not flatten the film for me but only intensified the menacing danger of the men returning. Lastly that they could imagine the far horizon of life without revenge or hatred is not fantasy but the truth of the deepest healing. A very different film with a very different pace and indeed a stellar cast.
