I feel sorry for all the students who have the burning need to rip this story apart, I really do. I remember doing the same for the books we discussed in school. I just wish I had maybe spent a little more time trying to understand the differences in culture and lived experience that lead to a story that reads so differently from what we are used to.
I found the Marrow Thieves rich and interesting, the exploration of culture lost and found very relevant to the way present day 'Canada' treats the people whose stolen land makes up the basis of the modern nation.
