I was a nerd growing up with Dr Who on PBS in the US, and ridiculed for it. We started with Tom Baker, but with more reruns Pertwee was my favorite. The production values of the 70's were atrocious but the writing had always been amazing. I was excited and pleasantly surprised after years to see it return with Christopher and Tennant in his youth solidified the role. I'd blossomed, became a hipster, but suddenly it was hip!
I watched through to Smith, got a little tired, the anniversary brought me back. Then Capaldi brought me home. He was the last Doctor for me, the show literally ended full circle with him. What happened after I don't know, the writing, the politics, the gender bending. Doctor Who was always fair, in all its eras, and those times were those times, im not ashamed of them, but what's happening now, I wouldn't want my children to watch that, much less learn to be a strong, smart, intelligent person from it because it's no longer there. I was such a fan, my heart actually hurts, how they treated this character. The amount of people in the world that believe this is what should be is so small compared to the rest of the world, how did this happen? I give everyone a chance, gender has nothing to do with anything as long as you're a good person. It's like blaming a gamer he's racist because he thought a game was bad....if it's good, nothing can stop it being successful. Doctor Who is now just bad.
