A slow start but once she is in the palace is when the drama and entertainment value really begins. Great performance by the actors. The actors who portrayed the villains did an outstanding job! My only gripe is that some of the sets looked a bit cheap.

Excellent drama series. Darker version of Yanxi palace. I would rate this slightly above Yanxi but comparing the two would be unfair to both as there is no comedy in Ruyi's story. There was only one funny line delivered in the entire series and that was reference to Ruyi farting in the very first episode. Captivating and wonderful performance by the cast and production team. Both leads and supporting cast did a great job and made me a fan of their work.
