Honestly, I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to games. But this game left me feeling taken advantage of by the end. I was tense when I started the game, but after an hour in, I found myself just wishing I could sprint through each new room.
Enemies were not varied enough. It felt extremely repetitive and lackluster no matter at what point in the campaign you were in.
The ending? The final "boss"? Just shoot it a bunch and it falls down? After ALL the kill animations and death sequences they include in the game, and the final boss just....falls down? Talk about stringing you along.
The characters felt pretty flat. When they reveal the "truth" to the player towards the end of the game, I felt like I was seeing something I already knew. That was not a twist. They were literally hinting at that the entire game.
Gameplay and combat was repetitive. Somewhere around the middle of the game I felt like I was just playing a "crawl through duct-work simulator." I understand environmental storytelling and instilling a sense of ominous dread through the environment but when it starts to feel like that's all you do... well, it loses its edge.
I truly regret buying this game. I had high hopes for it and wanted a graphically stellar game to play on my new PS5. But all this game had going for it were its graphics, and even those were glitchy and buggy.
