So, the reviews of this game donโt actually give you what the game actually is and what it is like.
First off, Iโd like to say how good this game actually is. The art style, the music, the story and the gameplay are all great. Especially if youโre into British manors and Greek mythology (sounds like a weird combo but it works).
Oh, to reiterate, THE MUSIC AND SOUNDTRACK! Honestly absolutely beautiful sounding music throughout the game.
The interactions with enemies are scary and tense. One of my favourites was when (I wonโt spoil anything or name any characters), but thereโs a point where someone is playing a piano, and you can do tasks while they are on it, but at points they will stop playing and you must stay still or youโre caught. I donโt feel I described it to what it actually is so I suggest playing it for yourself.
One thing I also enjoyed was the difficulty settings. Let me explain, so, when you load a new game youโre asked what difficulty. Safe, Easy, Normal, or Hard. The primary reason I wanted to mention this, was that if youโre not a skilled gamer (I use that phrase lightly), and/or youโre more interested in the story itself than hiding and running away from monsters. Safe mode is definitely good for you, because it takes away that element, so there are no bad guys you need to avoid or hide from, but you still have your regular jump scares etc. It genuinely doesnโt take much away from the experience. The enemies cannot see you so the main thing you want to focus on is sneaking and being silent. As if you make a noise they will head in that direction, luckily their footsteps are loud so you know when theyโre close.
Little things that made me happy: the collectibles. When playing you will come across different things like musical dolls, notes and things like that which add so much to the game as little collectibles and add such a creepy vibe. As a note, there are no auto saves, so you have to find phonographs to save, which have their own unique dialogue which helps you learn more about the story and what youโre experiencing.
In reality, I donโt have much bad to say about the game apart from a few bugs that just required a close of the game and open again to fix. Didnโt effect my rating of the game, just something Iโd let you know. Now this isnโt a spoiler per say but I mean this wholeheartedly and I wish someone told me this before I played: MAKE SURE YOU GRAB THE MUSICAL CYLINDERS AND MUSICAL SHEETS, YOU NEED THEM. No doubt youโll probably end up using google to find them like I did, that part ended up being a little tedious but only took a couple minutes to find them all once I had all the map available.
Overall, very decent game. Good graphics, brilliant voice acting (I actually felt attached to Elizabeth by the end), a beautiful soundtrack, entertaining and tense gameplay. Also, you can never go wrong with multiple endings. Good luck if you decide to play.
