This book is so compelling even if you don’t have a career like the authors. Any career, when also mothering, takes time from your children, brings about guilt from not always being there for their important triumphs, and leaves a woman torn between two worlds- something society feels is acceptable for men. It chronicles the cycle of life and growth and loss as your children go from needing you, wanting you, and learning to navigate the world without you. I relived my own experiences while reading this and felt, “there is someone else out there who understands what it was like to be a working mom and raise boys”.
