A heart wrenching story of Kashmiri pundits and saga of their eternal desire to come back home to Kashmir. Beautiful display of emotion. No movie can ever do justice with horrific experience and excruciating pain, trauma and shock of looming terror undergone by them while leaving home and their heart back in kashmir. The chain of events of their exodus during late eighties was so quick that they could hardly understand what was happening to them by which time they were forced to land in resettlement camps. Most touching scene was when lead actress tell the people at resettlement office that " apko pata nahi hamara kitna bada aur sundar ghar tha kashmir mein" Though this movie has tried to show the overflow of different emotions of the character till one of main character while longing to be back to her beautiful home at Kashmir called "shikara". The human aspect was the life of Kashmiri pundits at their resettlement camps in Delhi where the lead character chose to stay in camp for 30 years to teach the kids to open a new way of life for them. Hope coming time brings some peace in the valley with deep hope for the exodus pundits to come back to their homes. Kashmir is just not the most beautiful place in the world but the native home to lakhs of such people who have been shunted out with terrorism.
The producer could do some justice to movie and the theme story on which movie was based is on the life of his own mother who passed away while waiting for 30 years and nurturing the desire to go back to her home in Kashmir. It's not just a story, it's the life events of most of them who struggled hard to get on to their feet in the new life after being made refugees in their own country.
We are really thankful that abolition of Article 370 has atleast opened a ray of hope for them to see their home during their lifetime and before they breath their last.
