I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely disappointed in the tv adaptation as in comparison to the books that we all grew to love; the movies did us more justice for those who avidly loved reading the books. But if you don't care for the book and show matching up too much, or you haven't read the books at all then I would say the show is decent. Just wished it matched the books a little more, but the rest of this is just me complaining sooo, feel free to ignore the rest of this..
The first episode alone has me so upset. They changed so many foundational parts I feel along with the fact that everything is rushed... But some of the key changes i notices were (Excluding race or traits related to race);
the way Percy acquired rip tide
The Ms. Dodds attacked him out in the open not luring him into the museum.
How Grover has regular legs and no crutches up until the cabin
They complete changed how Percy and Grover split up, completely taking away the scene with the fates,
Percy just going home after getting in trouble, him not being at a boarding school,
His mom has none of the softness that is described in the books.
She was home before him sitting in the rain???
She was to get sandwiches on the way back not make bean dip before they left?
She also was started explaining things to Perct instead of holding back like in the books,
The CABIN!?!?!?! Both the reason they went and the way it was supposed to be
Percys dreams seemed like such an important thing to me but they completely changed them,
Grover acts wayyy too different from book and show from the way he acts, to his confidence, to his knowledge of everything
They completely changed the minotaur scene, nd he still had riptide???
the way Percy woke up was inaccurate
Mr. D is more jokeful than an a*hole that we all grew to love,
Chiron doesn't hold the elegance that I felt he had
The bathroom scene was completely wrong,
The way Annabeth treats percy at first
Luke calling Annabeth his sister then explaining it everything right then and there....
The capture the flag game, almost nothing was matched up to the books
Clarice is a different kinda bully
Anabeth knew Percy was Poseidon son? nd pushed him into the water to make him claim Percy?
Chiron nd Mr D telling Percy about the quest
Grover knowing sally isn't dead????
Yall can say the book readers are haters because they changed the characters races, but that's not it at all. Rick promised us a show the captured the essence of the books, even if it meant sacrificing the accuracy of the characters appearance/race, and we were okay with
that, but the show just doesn't capture the feelings that the books did, the scenes are all wrong, the characters personalities are wrong.. This feels like a different universe of Percy Jackson, and thats what has us all upset. The show is overall fine, but we were expecting our books to be turned into a show and that is ultimately where I'm disappointed at... but hopefully as i let go of my hope for my book to get turned into a show, ill grow to love this new Percy Jackson universe...
