Inuyasha was written by Rumiko Takahashi. Yashahime was written by Sunrise. It's not canon and Is just filler. It just doesn't have the depth that Rumiko brought to the original characters and their stories.

I love the final act. Inuyasha is the best anime, for me. In The Final Act they finally defeat Naraku. Definately worth watching Inuyasha and The Final Act, again and again. That being said, if you have any love for the depth the original characters have written by Rumiko Takahashi, I would not recommend watching Yashahime written later by Sunrise. Such a shame.
