As others have pointed out, Khalidi's book is an unserious but dangerous attempt to paint the de-colonization of the Land of Israel from the British Empire and the many colonial powers (Ottoman, Arab, Crusader, Persian, Greek, Roman, etc) that ruled this region before (referred to as Palestine, the Holy Land, Eretz Israel, the land of Israel) as European settler colonialism. It's an absurd claim that has unfortunately, like rot, now also taken root in western academia. The rebirth of Israel is one of the most successful decolonization projects in history. The Arabs of the region (who now refer to themselves as Palestinians), had an opportunity to have a state of their own. They have refused every single offer since the British mandate ended in 1947 and rather than engage in mature nation-state building based on human rights, have opted instead for violent jihad, intifadas and terror. Israel will continue to protect its sovereignty and its citizens from extremist Islamist terror - the cycle of violence will continue until there is a foundational, profound and deeply transformative change within the Palestinian society itself that will enable it to be a worthy, serious and mature negotiating partner for Israel. This sadly doesn't seem to be on the political horizon in the near future. In the meantime, don't waste your time on Khalidi's drivel.
