This movie is a quality piece of American gothic. Some might say that the movie is a bit slow, but I like to think that it was simply building the story; which is what gothic horror really does best. From the very start, this movie let's you know that something is very wrong and just builds from there, creating a heartwrenching story that leaves you feeling very sorry for these children despite the awful things that they do. This movie questions the importance of faith, family, and tradition, and culminates in an ending that has plenty of poetic justice for you to sink your teeth into.
