I read the book and saw the movie in senior public school. Recently I w saw some of it again on Turner Classics TV. One of the first adult movies I saw and has lost none if its force with time.

Good historical background information. A few too many names and anecdotes about vanished aristocrats.
BTW, Vorkuta isnโt in Siberia, rather in northern Russia, west of the Urals.
