The trailer far exceeds the movie as far as entertainment goes. While Del Toro is adequate in his role, the storyline was confusing and tedious (though the running gag "help yourself to a hand-grenade" did evoke chuckles). Michael Cera was spot on as Bǰorn, the Tutor/Entymologist/Secretary/Spy. But, by far the best scene in the entire movie came toward the end when Del Toro's "Zsa Zsa" confronts his half-brother, "Uncle Nubar", brilliantly played in perfect "camp" by Benedict Cumberbatch. In short, the film was mostly a disappointment.

Gritty bloodbath! Sure, some scenerios are totally implausible, but trying to keep up with who's backstabbing who will keep you coming back for more! And LOVE Helen Miren's Maeve! Wicked!

While I like the idea of a "modern twist" on this classic character, I'm not quite sure Cumberbatch pulls it off. I do, however, enjoy Martin Freeman's Watson. I've also been watching the 1984-94 series with Jeremy Brett, attempting to compare the two. A difficult task indeed. Perhaps I'm having a hard time because I keep seeing Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange. 🤨

I had no idea what to expect of this, one of my hubby's favorite classics. Well! A stunning story, with surprising plot twists and superb performances by all...especially the elder Barrymore! 👍👍

Not just for kids, this film is cute, funny, poignant and much more. A movie about revisiting your inner child, rediscovering your confidence and reaffirming your self-worth. You'll learn to 'believe' again. Loved it!
