No doubt Goggins is a beast. But, I wouldn't recommend this book for someone looking to maximize their athletic ability. Goggins book is about punishing his body, damaging his body and continuing to move forward. No telling how much long term damage he has done to his body. That to me isn't smart. I absolutely respect his pain tolerance and perseverance. But, when every effort he ends up injured and seriously damaging his body I don't think is conducive to living a long, healthy life. He has had multiple surgeries because of his tenacity, has heart problems. But, he makes no excuses. So, I love that he doesn't back off. But, when you want to be the best track athlete, nope, his methods don't work. He is a great endurance athlete. If you race shorter than marathon, be careful about how much of his book you apply to your training.
