Here's the thing: Sleepy Hollow was really, really good, until it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie are amazing actors, and they play their roles extremely well; the nuance in Ichabod and Abbie's characters and in their relationship is so well-communicated to the audience that you've really got no choice but to root for their successes, even if you don't agree with how they go about it.
Unfortunately, the show fell victim to poor writing. Even from the get-go, the romance between Ichabod and his wife Katrina is flat, and the added elements in later seasons (especially the love interests that NOBODY wanted) and the subtracted elements in others (major well-liked characters who had NO reason to die) take away from the overall experience.
I look back on this show fondly, but if I were you, I wouldn't watch to the end of the series. The first and second seasons are best, and from there it's downhill quite fast.
