I thought the first episode was a bit slow however it took the time to introduce all the characters and the action really picked up in the second episode. I thought the acting was good and the cinematography stunning. It is not Tolkien however it is recognisably Tolkien-inspired and the writers have been really attentive and respectful to the author’s vision of Middle Earth . For those who don’t have the patience to read books this series may be too slow as there is a lot of detail and background explanation however readers will appreciate these features and likely love it.

Epic until... Season 8 episode 4 - haven't bothered with the last 2 - total disaster of a season they should have left episode 3 as the finale and ended it there - the rush job of the final 3 episodes is a betrayal of the source material = terrible shame shame shame....
