one of the nastiest and most ill-intentioned little abominations you can possibly imagine - and the joke is, that the gimmick here is that the films are supposedly told from a "female point of view" - is that supposed to make it "nice" or "good" in some way? well, quite the contrary, it is utterly repellent

A cheap and shameless rip-off of the Shining, which is a pity because it has one of the best and most atmospheric opening sequences of any horror film, features a number of above-average performances and successfully maintains a sense of mystery some way into the film, but then falls apart spectacularly as it drags to its utterly preposterous conclusion. If you have any self-respect, avoid this film.

A foul abomination of a film, although it starts well enough. I wish I had the two hours that I wasted on this rubbish back, but the best I can do is to exhort you not to waste two hours of your life on this lamentable "entertainment". The young lady (Lorina Kamburova) 's performance is respectable and I wish her a successful career, but I would advise her to choose her subsequent projects more wisely if she cares about career longevity, and self-respect.

the first 20 minutes and 20 minutes near the end are quite compelling - and the rest is nonsense. don't watch it if you have something better to do

Long, rambling and unfocused. If it is worth seeing at all, which I doubt, then it is only for the sake of the extraordinary performance of Yasuaki Kurata, which I don't doubt. Sammo Hung is also excellent, as usual, although his part is rather small.

One of the sweetest, funniest and most original films ever made. Even the music is perfect. The sequel is great fun too. The director, Joe Dante is one of many of the famous alumni of the great Roger Corman. There is a lovely video on Youtube in which Jack Nicholson bursts into tears, remembering how Roger Corman was the only person who believed in him when no-one else did (Jack's first film was Corman's The Raven).

Unquestionably one of the finest films in cinema history. The script and the performances are perfect, and it marks the last peak of De Niro's extraordinary genius. He had a couple of golden years left in him in 1999, and since then, except for the very occasional spark of the old flame, he has not been the same man at all.
