The show was written as if by a completely science illiterate middle schooler that is also completely socially unaware. The crew who rely on following strict rules and guidelines to survive, break them casually, constantly on a whim. Character motivations are moment by moment and not even slightly believable. Bad 1950's sci-fi was more realistic.
