With a title like this film has I was expecting a outrageous over the top gung-ho comedy.
Nothing could be further from the truth. It's introspective, telling stories from the life of the man in the title, who is now a old man thinking about his life. He's clearly something special but the film never goes into detail about his abilities. As the title says he shoots Hitler, and Bigfoot, but it's what happens in between that's interesting. I think the film is trying to create a magical ambiguity but it's just too ambiguous for it's own good. Performances from all concerned are excellent, especially from the fantastic Sam Elliott but the different elements of the film jar rather then meld together. It's a intriguing film but it could have been a great one.
