“Why not do something new?” Mindy Kaling said in an interview about why she decided to make changes such as race bending characters and removing the titular dog from her new Scooby Doo spinoff. I think that’s a very interesting answer. Why not do something new? Why would you take a series with established fans, characters, backstory’s, and reimagine into something that can barely be recognized while still milking fans of a long running series that I treasured when I was younger. Why not do something new? Why would you not create your own series with your own imagination that doesn’t steal from a popular IP. It is very transparent that the current media doesn’t want to create any new IP because the only way they know how to market is by preying on nostalgia but they realize churning out the same bs every few years is getting diminishing returns/interest. Please stop tarnishing good works with your creatively barren bs
