This is a film that the critics will love to hate. Sat in their lounges, sharpening the HB pencils, ready to shred their fingernails into whichever post-lockdown movie arrives first. Fire Saga. Those critics may say it’s not clever enough (watch it twice you missed the clever bits). It’s too long (does time have any meaning in lockdown?). It’s not Will Ferrell’a best work (sure it’s different to what he usually does but people can change their tune). Well this movie has heart. It’s funny. It’s not consistently hilarious but it has so much subtle humour and so many sweet and moving moments. The songs are consistently on point and and all guaranteed ear-worms (album available on Spotify). If you’re a normal, rounded human being you’ll enjoy this movie, probably again and again; and if not, then I’m afraid you simply have no soul.
