The media focus on these buildings in Melbourne being locked down is ridiculous and is portraying an exaggerated situation of what is happening there. Thousands of us were locked down in our homes back in March when the borders in Queensland were slammed closed with practically no notice. We arrived back from holidays on 18 March and told to lock ourselves in our house and not leave for 14 days. We couldn’t get groceries delivered because there was a five day delay and had to rely on friends and family to pick up food and medication for us. We didn’t have any free food or services provided to us like these people but we didn’t complain even though it felt like we were in prison. We knew it was the good of everyone. The media needs to stop sensationising the situation and the residents need to stop whinging and get on with it so it can be over and done with.
