Movie : Jaane Jaan
OTT Release: Netflix
Directed by : Sujoy Ghosh
Review:4.5/5
In one sentence: Brilliant performances from the cast and the plot has some good dialogues and unexpected twists in every minute.
The film is set up in the quiet serene green hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. You will see shots of Mount Hermon School also! Thoroughly and beautifully shot in a dark theme of greens. This crime drama is of a single mother and daughter who find themselves entangled in a murder in their own house. they find an unexpected ally in their neighbour , a school teacher who is a simple person, but genius Maths teacher who helps the two and navigates the entire ongoing police investigation of the murder.
If you are looking for brilliant performances of actors, then this is it. Jaideep Ahlawat (Teacher) who plays the neighbour totally aced it with his unpredictability and different makeup. You will like his new calculative character. Kareena Kapoor( Mrs.D'Souza) , the accused wife- looks gorgeous without any makeup in the whole movie and plays a remarkable and convincing role as a single mother raising a 15yr old daughter. Vijay Verma ( Karan Anand) the police investigator plays his part with such effortless ease and comfort that will really showcase his acting ability.
There is a well paced cat and mouse game between the three main characters. The plot takes a different note to weave its tale, and has a curious sense of unpredictability especially of the Teacher. The stellar performances definitely hold your attention and you would not want to miss any second of the brilliant acting by these top notch actors. It's a nicely directed murder mystery by Sujoy Ghosh and the movie will definitely leave you guessing things everytime and wanting more from the film especially at the climax and the peculiar ending.
It's definitely a "must watch" for crime-thriller followers. I am sure there will be a second edition to this because of the curious ending.
