I didn’t have high expectations for the series, but I thought the books were great.
Shyamalan definitely smeared himself all over it, and that’s never really a good thing. The acting was appalling. (Who owed Matt Dillon a favor?) The casting was puzzling. (Nurse Pam….) The changes made from the source material were frustrating (Hessler. Wtf)
The Abbies were a joke. (Ever see “Powder”?)
I didn’t bother with season 2, since it had no relation to any source material and is, by most accounts, unwatchable.
It’s a great premise, and if you haven’t read the series, it might be entertaining to watch. But the books are quick reads and give a much better experience without the dilution.
