This movie is a must watch if you would like to see Chinese culture get butchered. To be fair, it's not an entirely unwatchable movie. The set pieces are gorgeous and the movie was beautifully shot. However, the acting often fell flat. Many supporting characters felt one dimensional. The remake was unoriginal and took too long to get to the climax. My biggest issue with this movie is that it was very westernized. Some elements of the movie seemed borrowed from European folklore. It's also absurd that mulan as a character has chi powers. To me, it felt that the writers did not have a clear concept of what the tale of mulan was and this hindered the story development as a whole.
