I never got this game, but I have played it... I have to say they stayed relatively true to the game I grew up playing (The bosses feel unbalanced because of this... the original game is to blame), but it just doesn't feel the same. I'm going to try to emulate it soon, but I have to say that there are some changes that just don't feel right. The "big pac man" feels VERY wrong, but it's bearable. As for the graphical changes, they look great, but again, I played the og PS1 game and the vibe was different. Overall, a great remake tho... but if you have a pc or a good laptop, and played the original, I'd emulate. If you haven't played the original game... this is probably a game younger kids would enjoy.
