Nice, simple story about the complexities of human relationships & the easy solutions that can resolve it

What a superb film once again from Sriram Raghavan. I have watched his earlier films : (1) Johnny Gaddar (2) Ek Hasina thi (3) Badlapur (4) Andhadhun & now (5) Merry Christmas His earlier films captured betrayal . Not this one. How beautifully & subtly he has captured little bit of romance & hope. Excellent direction. Excellent songs. Meaningful lyrics. Wonderful music. Background scores fit the scenes & convey all without any words being spoken. Casting - Sriram Sir took a bold risk by taking Vijay Sethupathi & Katrina Kaif. Well the gamble has paid off. Both shine in their characters. All in all - a very fine film. Slow in the first half. But then aren't we all so tired of Action. The erstwhile Bombay triggers at heart strings. The PCO.. The huge weighing machine at Railway platforms which along with one's weight displayed one's future.. The Bajaj Chetak scooter... The lift as big as a room seen in so many old buildings of Fort, Colaba & VT.. The chicklet & Liril ads.. The Regal theatre in all it's glory.. Uff Sriram Sir. You have captured the essence of the 80's like never before. Please watch in theaters. We owe this to Merry Christmas Team

This is not Meghna Gulzar's best movie. Her best was Raazi. However, it certainly is Vicky Kaushal's best performance. He has emulated Field Marshal Sam Maneckshaw's charisma, personality, walk, voice, diction, mannerisms to the T. Portraying FM on screen is a huge responsibility & Vicky Kaushal has completely fulfilled the expectations of his director Meghna, the family of Maneckshaw & his huge fan base. It is very important for today's generation to see, know & understand the moral courage & valour displayed by one of India's finest soldiers. Vicky Kaushal has nailed the act. He surely deserves the National Award for his portrayal. And other awards too.
