This was an excellent film. The dialogue was incredible. There was a lot to this story. Sad to see all the blame and heat being tossed on the wife as a “ narcissist” when in the move the husband acknowledges full on his choice from long ago to marry someone who he wasn’t compatible with had everything to do with him not being a whole human being yet and not understanding who he was because he experienced significant loss. Very powerful of him to take accountability and acknowledge his own choice. It’s fixing to the importance of truly knowing who we are.
Mostly this felt like a movie opportunity for adult children of divorce and love legacy and working through where we are like our mom and where we are like our Dad and allowing ourselves to take what we want to keep an individualize in a way that keeps us healthy. The dialogue was very psychologically mature and expansive. The son was so beautiful in reverently letting who his parents are go but in a way that also honored them. Very powerful film with a lot of golden nuggets.
