I loved the characters and the storylines but was disappointed with the excessive use of crude, vulgar language. I understand that sometimes using f**k, s**t or ar****le is necessary but most of the swearing was gratuitous and unnecessary.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cruel Summer. The storyline (and the way it's presented) takes a little work initially as there is a lot of switching between time periods but the central performances, particularly the two girls, are outstanding. There were so many twists and turns that I was constantly guessing the outcome.
