Can't believe it took me so long to get to this movie, considering I've sung and danced to the songs of this movie since I was a kid !
SRKs cringe acting in the first half aside (yes cringe ! When a hardcore SRK fan finds his acting cringe - you can just imagine !), the movie is actually good. It has good casting, good songs and a good story that's relevant even today. It's unfortunate that the msg did not reach the masses.
Responsible journalism is the need of the hour is the msg that the movie tries to give. 2 OTT and publicity hungry TV reporters (SRK and Juhi) working in 2 rival power hungry news channels (Satish Shah & Dalip Tahil) have a change of heart when they encounter a proclaimed terrorist who is actually a common man in search of justice (Paresh Rawal)
The story then follows the struggle of these 2 against the news channels, against politicians to get the heartwrenching story of this common man to people.
Why it's relevant even today is because it showcases both the petty journalism and responsible one and how the police, and news channels are played around as puppets at the hands of the government. Extremely relevant even today as there is a complete lack of responsible journalism now!
Good performances by the main cast and side cast - Jonny Lever, Dilip Joshi, Atul Parchure, Neena Kulkarni, Bharati Acharekar and also Sheeba Chaddha (spot her if you can)
The story telling and the pace could have been better. Otherwise a decent movie to watch! If not for anything else - SRK's romantic & emotional performance in the second half of the movie!
