I found it stilted and workmanlike. It was Jack Black playing Jack Black playing another wild and crazy guy, and I’ve finally found a Cate Blanchet role that rang silly, cliched,
and forced. It’s all rather a “one from column A, one from column B” assemblage of plot devices that lacked a creative, cohesive consistency. In other words, it was uninspired and didn’t draw me in. I was a spectator to, not a participant, in the narrative.
