Calvin O'Neill

I usually hate minimalist, slow paced films like this. It's not that I don't like artsy films, it's just that I don't have the attention span for most of them. A lot of the time they feel more self-indulgent than entertaining. But this film was genuinely intriguing from start to finish. It's definitely one to watch spoiler free, because it's the being confused about who's who and what's going to happen next that's exciting. Which is also something I usually hate in films. But this film pulls it off, with great acting cinematography and pacing that while slow, isn't meandering. An good immersive late night horror.

I thought it was fun. Never really knew exactly where it was going until the last episode, where admittedly I saw a lot of the twists coming. The very last scene also doesn't make a lot of sense. So from a plot perspective, the ending is kind of meh, but the action is really fun and exciting and, for me at least, made up for the slight dip in plot. I thought that the main characters were a good mix of likeable but flawed. The whole season is basically just someone trying to assemble a team of people that are too wrapped up in their day to day lives to care. I can see why that might get on some people's nerves, but I found it funny and very realistic for London. And their personal lives are plenty entertaining and somewhat relatable...albeit a bit over the top. Occasional subpar acting, but a lot of really good acting and quite memorable moments and characters. Villains are pretty cliché, and you don't get much out of them, but I could definitely get behind a season 2.

Silly film with hammy, over the top acting and sub-par effects that lends itself to comedic moments but makes the horror and character drama tough to watch. Feels like there was potential, but it didn't quite stick the landing because it was trying to be more than a light-hearted, gorey misadventure. Still, if you like comedy horror, it has its moments.

Entertaining film with a large, endearing cast and good themes. Although Ironically, the film is about accepting life's imperfections, yet gives a very picturesque idea of a dysfunctional family. Most people will enjoy this film, but anyone who's had to deal with any of the problems it portrays will be left with a sense that it doesn't believe it's own message.
