The book hit me very hard emotionally, through character arcs and lessons that most people of color can relate to. The first half of the book took me a bit to fully get into, especially this being my first time reading in this genre, as it was packed with a lot of information that at times I questioned if it was all necessary but once the boat scene happened I couldn’t put the book down for the life of me. If you’re white and find yourself rolling your eyes when topics of poc experiences come across your feed, skip this book. If you’re white and an ally, this book will give you a very good look into the inner thoughts some of us go through in life. Great read, great author.
