This film is not SpongeBob. The humour falls flat in comparison to the older seasons of the show. The new characters try and remove the focus from the old characters, and the CGI animation is definitely not as good as in Sponge Out of Water and Sponge on the Run.
I recommend you stick to the first 3 seasons and the first movie.
