Book: "Wise and Otherwise", by Sudha Murthy
My rating for the book: 3/10.
The stories in this book are short, straightforward, and easy to understand, which makes for a quick read. However, I found some aspects of the book challenging to fully appreciate.
The writer frequently emphasizes their personal beliefs, which at times overshadow other perspectives. This approach can feel one-sided, as ideas that differ from the writerโs views are often portrayed as universally wrong.
Additionally, the writer occasionally engages in self-praise, which feels out of place and contrasts with the humility the book appears to advocate. This unintended irony detracts from the bookโs overall message.
Finally, the Marathi version of this book (reprinted in September 2022) contains numerous grammatical and punctuation errors. These frequent and distracting mistakes could have been avoided with more thorough editing, significantly improving the reading experience.
While the book has its strengths, these issues made it difficult for me to fully enjoy it.
