10/10 movie
Definitely a mother daughter movie. I highly recommend taking your moms not matter how old you are!!! There is so much diversity in the film. There are many different emotions you feel throughout the film. Perfect for people of all ages to enjoy! There were a good amount of stand out scenes that you won’t forget. It was such a beautiful film.
SPOILER ALERT:
I saw a review mentioning how the mom and daughter didn’t fix their problem and she was just being a teenager but I have to disagree. The issue they had in the first place was drifting apart. And seeing themselves as completely different. They show flashbacks of the moms (America Ferrera) life with her daughter, playing dolls with her, comforting her daughter. Then they show the daughter growing up and not needing comforting. Not caring about giving away her dolls that she played with her mom. She was getting older and being a teenager but throughout the film the daughter and mother got closer together helping Barbie. The daughter made it clear she stands up for women’s rights and feminism and I think when the mom (America Ferrera) made the speech on how women are supposed to act in society, the daughter respected her mom more and saw her in a different light. The entire journey brought them closer together and made them realize they weren’t so different after all. This movie is for women made by women. Number 1 film of the summer.
