The real problem with the Multiple storyline’s set mostly in Japan, the Uk, the USA, and Afghanistan, was the story set in Afghanistan. It really could have done without the American gangsta war story representing a crazed army treating locals as enemies, taking hostages, going into children’s classrooms with guns and raising guns in market places. How embarrassing that this American gangsta war trope made it in as one of the main story arcs of an alien invasion story that had such promise. The one story arc that showed real craft was the story set in Japan. This script really needed more time in the writing room and tested with international audiences.
