Kantara : A mystical experience
In recent times, Regional cinema has been dishing out cinematic masterpieces, enthralling audiences across the globe, Kantara is the latest offering. Written & Directed by Rishab Shetty, who himself is the lead actor, Kantara is garnering rave reviews.
It would be a gross injustice to call "Kantara" as just a movie, its a piece of art. Rishab Shetty took the liberty to paint a portrait awash with colours & sounds of Tulunadu. The movie starts off like a dynamite with a long fuse, As the spark runs through the fuse with the build-up, you are expecting an explosive climax, and boy did it deliver!
The final few scenes of the movie are probably one of the best endings in Indian cinema. As the lead hero transforms into a "Daiva", even non-believers are sucked into divinity running through his veins. The theatre is magically transported to the dense jungles of Kundapura, the audience enchanted by vigorous moves of the artist, light, colour & sound sending them into a trance only to broken by the rolling credit scene and bouts of applause. A reminder to modern directors that you don't need VFX to create magic.
The movie is an homage to traditions & customs of people of Tulunadu. It is a reminder that our very existence is derived from the land. The era of urbanization may have distanced Man from the soil that once nourished him, but it's good to be reminded of his roots, Kantara owns up this responsibility.
Thank you Rishab Shetty & team for this spell binding experience.
