So many great actors in this movie, and so many great actors to choose from for this movie, and they give the two main roles to the same person. Bobby D is clearly an egomaniac to think even for a second that this would work. It completely distracts from the movie for the entire two hours and absolutely ruined what should have been a new all time classic. Pesci would've been perfect as Vito and he and Deniro have great chemistry together. That's been proven time and time again. I honestly can't believe nobody put a stop to Deniro playing both roles long before they started shooting. I've lost a lot of respect for Deniro over the last few years and it makes it hard to watch any new movie he's in. The way he and Scorsese bought the story in the Irishman hook, line and sinker, as if it was actually true, goes to show that everybody, even the greats, lose it in their old age. These guys should've hung it up long ago and went out on top.
