I haven’t seen the Spanish film it’s based on, but I loved the concept. Appreciated the casting decisions because it not only allowed opportunity for those with intellectual disabilities, but their very selves made you root for them the whole way through.
I feel like Woody was a bit dry in this film. The character arch is there, it just needed to be acted a bit better.
The humor was decent.
I think the best actor on the screen is Olson. She really gave 100%. She made every moment seem extremely real, even with a lack of good writing in some parts.
Marlon was my favorite ball player. Loved his approach to the intellectual nerd type.
The fluidity of writing was odd in parts. Or perhaps it was a mix of writing and editing.
Overall enjoyable and has a very sweet message. Especially the result of the final game. I was extremely happy with that.
But thought it was odd he ended up leaving the team to coach a new set of players that had nothing to do with the story and let the assistant coach take over the Friends. I think he should have stayed with his team.
