A gem of a movie. Beautifully acted and wonderful script. For an older viewer, who has experienced love and loss, regrets and sorrows, this film is an emotional experience. Not too many filmgoers have the patience to watch two hours of dialogue, which is essentially what this film is, but the authenticity of their relationship and the youthful misunderstandings that so often lead our lives in the wrong directions had been in tears. Add the elements of surrealism and magic and the film is even more impactful. There is even a quality of Beckett's absurdism. I loved the film and I think the dialogue and direction were brilliant. Bravo Meg Ryan.
