What a mishmash. I love Agatha Christie and like many I am curious about her brief 'disappearance'... though considering what we know about her life, and being an independent minded woman, it's not in inconceivable that she might have needed a time out!
The author is a good writer, her use of language is wonderful, but her story line is excessively convoluted and the story line is ultimately unsatisfying.
The voice telling the story and the viewpoint changes too often. The author tries to be too clever, weaving too many characters and fictional twists and turns into this tale. At one point, she has Agatha quote Occum's Razor, that the simplest solution is usually correct. The author would have done better to heed that advice herself! And unlike Agatha's stories, in the end you're left with a question 'what just happened???'
I was hoping for information and an entertaining read, instead my head hurt with so many convoluted twists and turns and absolutely no clarity.
One of the reviewers mentioned this would be a perfect read for a teenage girl, as a former teenage girl, I had to smile and agree. As a woman I say, what a lot of overblown nonsense. Very disappointed.
