Let's get the cons out of the way:
The game is short, even playing through both stories. And while I absolutely prefer that over it dragging out into an empty nothing burger of a game, it feels like it could have easily explored more deeply into the unique locations, especially with the ease of which the game weaves its atmosphere.
It also suffers slightly from a lack of variety in its puzzles, and the combat controls seemed to become less and less reliable as the game went on, almost to the point of unplayability- with the MAJOR caveat that I've not noticed this complaint voiced in other reviews I've read, so maybe it was a rare bug and not a common problem, I don't know how that stuff works, I just know I had issues with it.
There are also quite a few minor glitches; puzzles that don't show up as solved after youve done them, repeating narrative pages, etc. (Particularly later on in the game.) Again, with a caveat that they may have patched that by now.
Now for the good stuff:
David and Jodie are phenomenal, and the rest of the cast only elevates the already interesting story.
Derceto is a ton fun to walk around in, and the other locations are fun to explore as well, and the characters are interesting to watch, (Grace is hilarious and creepy at the same time).
It's also dripping with atmosphere and while the puzzles do lack variety, they still provide a good bit of entertainment.
Overall, a solid game that harkens back to the glory days of Survival Horror. I hope to see a sequel in the next few years.
