I feel like there could be a directors cut of this movie that addresses all the shortcomings in this cut!
There was some great stuff in this movie, but so many things were super vague and unsatisfying. Why is the Nomada so important given it just seems to be a missile and sensor platform? Given that later on an unauthorised moon shuttle can fly right up and dock with it... why is it thought to be so indestructible? Why does there appear to be no military in New Asia except a handful of AI guerilla fighters and the police? Why does some random family that pick up Joshua and Alfie risk their lives to run a government (their own, not US) checkpoint? Why do they keep trying to capture Alfie in air/ground assaults when they are going to kill him anyway? Etc.
The balance of belief is off. It's a shame because the simulants are really well done visually and there are some good (if highly derivative of Asimov, Philip K Dick and others) ideas in here.
