To anyone saying that this is too woke, grow up and remember that the problem is you. There's literally nothing in this movie that could be considered woke except two supporting characters being gay and this relationship revolves around those meetings. Seeing supporting characters and the story centered around a gay couple was awesome for me. Just because they are drastically underrepresented in Hollywood and I'm glad that they are finally waking up but of course this means woke to those without emotional intelligence.
OK so this movie was either trying to mock the romcom trope or the goal was to implode it entirely.
It followed the script seamlessly but with some wildly inappropriate parts scattered between. I'm not even talking about the awkward or the weird or even hilarious parts. The thing about this kind of Inappropriate, and if you seen the movie you know exactly what I mean, was attempted humor that did not add anything to the story. It only attracted from it.
Otherwise I'd like to just comment on what an amazing actress the leading females actor was. She clearly has the chops to act in whatever you put in front of her. I think she made the movie in a lot of ways and the guy, although completely predictable in his perfectness, definitely lent to the funny parts.
Kind of irritated at how the director/writer just bombed the scenes and dialogue of the talented actors they had in attendance. Weird and stilted and outrageous dialogue, especially for the sidekick Friend. He deserved better as an actor and a part.
